Wool Studio (The Norah Gaughan Collection)
Welcome to Wool Studio Vol. IV: The Norah Gaughan Collection—a hand-knitwear capsule collection for the modern knitter.
For those not familiar with Norah: she’s a knitting rock star. As a freelance knitwear designer, she has published her patterns in Interweave Knits, knit.wear, Making, Pom Pom, and Vogue Knitting, to name a few. She spent nine years at Berroco Yarn as design director and during that time published sixteen design collections for the brand. She has partnered with prestigious yarn companies including Quince & Co. and The Fibre Co. and currently is on the in-house design team for Brooklyn Tweed. And if that isn’t impressive enough, she published Norah Gaughan’s Knitted Cable Sourcebook (Harry N. Abrams, 2016), a collection of original cable patterns from her thirty years of inventing with yarn. Norah’s designs are creative and unique but always wearable. Inventive cables, unexpected lace and texture, and playful geometric shapes are all trademarks of a Norah Gaughan design.
In this issue of Wool Studio, you’ll find ten original Norah Gaughan projects—five garments and five accessories—all with her trademark design characteristics. We’ve partnered with Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts, Blue Sky Fibers, Cardiff Cashmere, HiKoo by Skacel, Jagger Spun, Plymouth Yarn, Rowan, Sugar Bush Yarns, Tahki Yarns, and Trendsetter to unite modern design with luxurious yarn.
