Take your knitting skills to the next level and learn from one of the fiber industries most knowledgeable designers and teachers! Anne Hanson will be walking you through everything you need to be successful for knitting lace. In this class, you will be using her very popular shawl pattern Double Happiness. You will learn about knitted lace (motifs with lace knitting on RS and WS of fabric), chart reading, working with incorporated edgings and knit-on edgings, shaping for shawls of various types, as well as getting any questions answered that you may have about lace knitting or how it works. This is a two session class that gives you 6 hours total over the weekend to learn!
Students should have completed at least two beginning/ intermediate lace projects, have a complete understanding of increasing/decreasing and intermediate knitting terminology, experience with a variety of lace stitches, and be able to execute a crochet chain stitch. Please talk with someone in the shop if you are not sure if this class is for you. It could also work with a very eager, enthusiastic advanced beginner student if you have worked certain types of projects before, and have a fairly good understanding of things.
Materials: stitch markers, notepad, dental floss or fine cotton yarn (for lifelines), 100 yards of fingering yarn for practice, 300 yards of fingering yarn for class project, size 5 or 6 needles, crochet hook size E or F, and a few yards of smooth scrap yarn in a contrasting color. A magnetic board may be helpful.
