Skill Level Requirement
Students should know how to cast on, bind off, and do the following stitches: k2tog, ssk. They should be comfortable working on small needles and have worked in the round before.
Students should pick a fingering weight yarn from the stash or shop in advance of the course, or be prepared to pick one up in class or the day before at the very least. Sock yarns are yarns with a tight twist, fingering or sport weight and must be multi-plies. You are welcome to bring your own handspun sock yarns if you spin!
Student Prep List
Students should knit a swatch on US 0-2 needles using their sock yarn that is at least 60 stitches cast on and 3" tall. Please knit your swatch in the round!
Hannah Thiessen is a fiber-loving creative who works full time for several yarn related brands and also as the CCO of Knitcrate, a yarn of the month subscription club. In 2017 she wrote Slow Knitting, a book about careful making and thoughtful yarn selection, and is currently writing her second book, Slow Knitting Seasonally, due to come out in 2020. She is passionate about garment and sock knitting and yarn construction, and also spins, crochets, quilts, sews, paints and weaves. She currently lives in Franklin, Tennessee with her fiance and two cats.
