Kendall is teaching a two class workshop that will get you started knitting socks. Using a well written Churchmouse pattern that explains everything in detail, she will guide you through working with (the sometimes intimidating) double pointed needles, working all of the fancy heel & gusset business, and decreasing the toe to sew 'er up with the famous kitchener stitch. Socks don't have to be so complicated. Let us teach you how to enjoy them so you can build up your hand knit sock drawer this winter.

Ever wonder why, when you achieved exact gauge using a different yarn, your finished object looks nothing like the original? Much more than a discussion about yarn weights, this explorative class for knitters and handspinners of all levels covers myriad yarn characteristics and their effect on knitted fabric. You will learn how yarn type relates to gauge, needle size, texture, and fabric integrity, and how to use that information to make better choices and/or substitutions in their projects. Students will test knitting yarns of various fibers, twist ratios, and dye applications to make comparisons and learn to assess final fabrics. Even the most experienced knitters and spinners will go away with new insight on the fibers and yarns they thought they knew.
