Ready to start knitting for the first time? Learned awhile ago and need help getting started again? This class is for you. We have taught hundreds of knitters in a gentle and fun environment.

Kendall is teaching a three class workshop that will get you started knitting socks. Using a well written Churchmouse pattern that explains everything in detail, she will guide you through working with (the sometimes intimidating) double pointed needles, working all of the fancy heel & gusset business, and decreasing the toe to sew 'er up with the famous kitchener stitch. Socks don't have to be so complicated. Let us teach you how to enjoy them so you can build up your hand knit sock drawer this year.

Learn to knit colorwork with April using the ever-so-amazing Moonwake Cowl pattern by Andrea Mowery. There are so many amazing designs right now featuring colorwork - take the plunge and learn how to get your tension right, how to hold your yarn (we will show you multiple ways and find the most comfortable way for each person attending!), and learn how to read a chart. These skills will give you the confidence to knit even the most advanced looking stranded knitting patterns! This is a two session class - the first session will get you started, and the second session will answer any questions and/or help you finish with the Kitchener.

Are you an English style knitter (thrower) that looks on with envy as Continental knitters (pickers) speed along efficiently on their projects? While there is no real wrong or right way to our knitting styles and preferences, learning different styles can be good to have in our toolset. Join Jinka, the shop owner, and learn how to go about knitting your first pattern. You will leave this class knowing how to pick the right size for you when starting a pattern, how to make yarn substitutions to use a different yarn than the pattern calls for, and in depth look at the different weights of yarn and what that means, and a nifty handout to take home with you.

Learn to make tapestry weavings with April! Have you been seeing all of those super cool weavings and wall hangings on the internet, in the stores, at craft markets and thought "I think I could make that?!" Well, great news, you totally can! This is also a great way to utilize stash yarn (I'm looking at you, knitters & crocheters!) and these also make great gifts, too. You will learn three different kinds of weaves, along with how to take the tapestry/wall hanging off the loom to finish. There is a $10 discount on this class when you purchase a Schact School Loom!

This class will empower you to take your knitting into your own hands and help you move forward in your projects quickly and efficiently.

We know you've been eyeing and longing to knit the trillions of popular Brioche patterns available these days! Invest in your skills and finally learn this (not as hard as you think and slightly medatative) knitting technique with Kathy Johnson. Kathy is a guest teacher from Atlanta, Ga who teaches at The Craftivist. You'll learn one color, two color, increasing and decreasing and she will get you started on a pattern of your choosing.

We are so inspired by Therese Hagstedt (@tipsytessie on Instagram) and the use of a simple single crochet granny square that we are offering a class to get you started on a similar project! Learn with Kendall how to crochet a perfect granny square and put together the afghan of your dreams that will work up quicker than you know.

Are you ready to take your basic knitting skills to a new level? Have you knit a few accessories now, but you've been thinking about knitting a garment for yourself, and you're a little overwhelmed about where to start? This class is for you. Join Susan as she takes you through the clearly written Churchmouse Simple Tee pattern. A highly customizable, timeless pattern that can be modified to fit all shapes and sizes knit in a DK weight yarn. You will learn about knitting a garment from the bottom up, working flat, and seaming at the end. You can choose to knit a cropped or longer version, get help doing custom math to perfect the fit for your body, and the choice between long or short sleeves. This is a three session class that happens slowly over the course of a month and a half to leave ample time for knitting in-between class times.

If you're curious about weaving, but don't want to invest thousands on equipment you may or may not enjoy using, come visit April at Loopville on Saturday afternoon as she demonstrates rigid heddle weaving on a portable Cricket loom. She can answer questions, and might even let you give it a try! If there is a sufficient interest, April will schedule classes at Loopville this spring /summer.

Learn how to make beautiful cables with a cable needle in this hat class with Kendall. She will get you going on how to read a chart with cables, how to use a cable needle, and how to read your knitting while cabling. Add this skill to your knitting tool belt and you'll find that cables are quick and easy, and super impressive for gifting and/or wearing.

Join April for a casual spring shawl KAL on Thursday nights at the shop. We are using Stephen West's Vertices Unite pattern, which is so versatile with many options, and tons of room to PLAY with color!! This is a 4 session relaxed class that will help you have a finished object by spring. We will help you put together the perfect color palette for you (this can even be a great stash buster, too!), you will learn how to do perfectly done short rows/shaping, how to pick up stitches neatly, how to increase and decrease, how to make stripes, an icord edging, and more. Bring your friends & family to this one and make it a community affair, it's going to be so much fun with lots of room for play.

This class is for those who have already taken April's "Learn to Tapestry Weave" class and want to expand their skills and abilities. Students will learn five new weaves, and should bring their looms warped with cotton. We're excited to show you the endless possibilities of weaving with new techniques! If you want April to warp the loom for you, please bring the loom (with your name on it) and $15 to Loopville by Thursday March 26. This $15 warping fee is in addition to the cost of the class. We will be using solid color worsted - chunky yarns for this class.

The beauty of tuck stitches as explored in Nancy Marchant's newest book on this advanced brioche technique. Like brioche Yahtzee, tuck stitches use all the elements of brioche and mix them up to create amazing textures. Requirements, must be comfortable with simple straight 2 color brioche in flat knitting sequences. Students should bring two contrasting colors of worsted weight fiber and needles one size smaller than your typical worsted weight gauge. Class will involve swatching both ribbed and stockinette flat single, double, and triple tuck stitch patterns. We will then strike out to learn designing your own tuck stitch and apply it to a simple tuck stitch key hole scarf, pattern template provided.
