Cast on 4

1.    Knit row one across

2.    Knit 2, yo, knit to end  (increase rows)

repeat row 2.  until  you have 43 stitches for dishcloth or 110 stitches for a baby blankey. Then start decrease rows.

3.    (Decrease rows)knit 1,  k2tog yo k2tog, knit across

repeat row 3  until 4 stitches remain then cast off.
